It’s been a busy start to 2009 for Taylor Swift. She rocked Saturday Night Live on January 10th. Her stint on SNL was a record performance too. According to Country Music Television, at the age of 19, she’s the youngest country star to appear as a musical guest on the show’s 32-year run. On her MySpace page, Swift said this is something “I’ve been dreaming about and hoping and wishing for years.” The night she appeared on the show also was her mother’s birthday. Swift blogged, “I don’t think either of us would’ve believed you if you would’ve told us a few years ago that we’d spend her birthday in New York City at Saturday Night Live! Wow. It’s pretty unreal.”
Swift’s Sophomore Album Takes Off
Swift has another reason to celebrate. Her sophomore album, “Fearless,” continues to rock the music charts. It’s been number one on the Billboard 200 charts. That’s a huge accomplishment for someone who was singing karaoke tracks just eight years ago. Before she got noticed, Swift use to drop off CDs of herself singing these songs at different Nashville labels hoping she’d get that big break. Her persistence paid off. Three years later, at the age of 14, she signed with Sony/ATV Tree Publishing. Two years later, she released her self-titled debut album, which included songs she wrote herself. Today, it’s sold more than three-million copies.

Breakup Exposed on Talk Show
Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas had one of the more memorable breakups of 2008. Swift revealed on the Ellen Degeneres show last year that Jonas dumped her in a 27-second cell phone call. “It was like a record I think,” Swift told Degeneres. The talk show host tried make things better by surprising the country singer with a visit from her “musical “crush Justin Timberlake. “This makes it all better,” exclaimed Swift.
